Mama Knows Best: Stephanie’s Mother
They always say, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” In the case of Stephanie’s bohemian, flower-child style, it seems that this theory is quite true.
When Stephanie forwarded me a picture of her mother, Alexandra, on her wedding day to her dad back in the late seventies, her crochet sleeves and gauzy wedding dress looks like something a modern bride could be seen wearing while walking down the aisle. A soon-to-be-bride herself, Stephanie had nothing but praise for her mom’s signature style.
“With my own wedding coming up, I’m finding a lot of inspiration in my parent’s wedding albums. It’s funny how as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to relate to my mother in so many new ways—especially when it comes to our similar taste and style.”
To duplicate Stephanie’s mom’s wedding day look, we took a new arrival from one of our favorite brands, Free People. The Slip Away Pullover dress in ivory is perfect with its crochet detailing on the bottom. This gauzy dress is fairly sheer, so we layered it over the Velvet Andi Lace Tank Dress. To pull the outfit together, we added the Gorjana Barrington Belt in Gold and added another touch of gold with the Palm Beach Lately Arrow Necklace.
