#OOTD: Maxi Dress | Styled 2 Ways

This week Steph and Christina are styling the Pink Stitch Resort Maxi Dress two different ways. Take it away Girls!

Steph:
Coastal Chic

I am in love with this Pink Stitch Resort Maxi Dress in Azure Blue. It’s the perfect flowy maxi for a hot summer day at Rapunzel’s.

During the day at work my “must haves” are  an arm full of Bourbon & Boweties Bracelets (coins & a sea of blue are my favorites) & TKEES on my feet. These days I can’t get enough of TKEES in Coco Butter and Sea Snake. I completed my mermaid look today with a pair of Sea Snake.

After work I can throw on a chunky beaded belt for a sunset cruise on the boat! (Margaritas are a non-negotiable!) I added an Annie Fischer Pineapple Pouch for my cell phone, lip gloss, sunnies & keys and I’m ready to go!

A Preppy State of Dress

There is this little old saying that goes; you must always have the perfect little black dress. Well, on Palm Beach the perfect little black dress actually translates into the perfect little summer dress. When I set my eyes on the new Pink Stitch Resort Maxi Dress I just knew I had to have it. I went for an effortless chic look without all the fuss that goes into making an outfit.

Sometimes, it really is better to go with the saying, less is more. I made sure to keep the jewelry to a minimum only accenting it with Bourbon & Boweties Bracelets and a Zacasha tassel necklace. I knew I would be spending the day running errands around Palm Beach, so I made sure to keep the shoes simple. You can often catch me rocking my TKEES or some other fashionable flat around town. So leave all the fuss at home, grab your favorite clutch and aviator sunglasses and you’re good to go!

Mama Knows Best: Hallie’s Mom

Style seems to run in the families of all of our girls at Rapunzel’s Closet, and our buyer, Hallie, is no exception. Hallie’s mother, Beth-Anne, has obviously taught Hallie the importance of personal style; lucky for us, Hallie has landed herself a job where she can share this natural knack for style with all of us here at Rapunzel’s Closet.

“My mother has always stayed close to the trends of the season but likes to purchase classic pieces that are wardrobe mainstays and mix trends in as they come and go. I can definitely say that I take a similar approach to my personal style.”

This awesome picture of Beth-Anne has greatly inspired us—we find it hard not to imagine what her day in San Francisco was like when she had this picture taken! Exciting times and even more exciting styles!

To re-create this look we decided to play up the wide-leg flare with some Hudsons! The Mia Five-Pocket Flare is essential in this look. To duplicate her layered look, we paired the Vince V-Neck in Eggplant with a white Equipment Signature Blouse. Accessories include a pair of Rapunzel’s Jewelry Box Hoop Earrings and a retro, crochet Missoni Scarf! We are loving this look!

Mama Knows Best: Stephanie’s Mother

They always say, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” In the case of Stephanie’s bohemian, flower-child style, it seems that this theory is quite true.

When Stephanie forwarded me a picture of her mother, Alexandra, on her wedding day to her dad back in the late seventies, her crochet sleeves and gauzy wedding dress looks like something a modern bride could be seen wearing while walking down the aisle. A soon-to-be-bride herself, Stephanie had nothing but praise for her mom’s signature style.

“With my own wedding coming up, I’m finding a lot of inspiration in my parent’s wedding albums. It’s funny how as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to relate to my mother in so many new ways—especially when it comes to our similar taste and style.”

To duplicate Stephanie’s mom’s wedding day look, we took a new arrival from one of our favorite brands, Free People. The Slip Away Pullover dress in ivory is perfect with its crochet detailing on the bottom. This gauzy dress is fairly sheer, so we layered it over the Velvet Andi Lace Tank Dress. To pull the outfit together, we added the Gorjana Barrington Belt in Gold and added another touch of gold with the Palm Beach Lately Arrow Necklace.

Mama Knows Best: Sarah’s Mom

Every girl should know that there is no trend is an original. Nothing is new and sometimes the best way to be fashionably inspired is to look at old pictures of our moms, aunts, grandmothers, and even our dads! (In case you didn’t know, our dads were definitely the original hipsters.)

Here at Rapunzel’s Closet we respect all things fashion, so we decided what better way to pay homage to the fashionistas before us, then to create some looks inspired by our mothers—our first ever style icons.

Sarah is currently the face of Rapunzel’s Closet. When we asked her to bring in a picture of her mother, PJ, we weren’t too shocked that she presented us with one of her mom’s original test shots from her early modeling days! Good looks definitely run in that family!
 With this gorgeous shot of PJ as our inspiration, we put together a couple things that Sarah’s mom would definitely be sporting during her modeling days!  PJ is wearing a men’s style button-down; we thought the Equipment Signature Blouse would work perfectly to help us re-create this mom-inspired look.  And since the skinny jean had yet to make a splash, we thought the Joe’s Visionaire Boot Cut Jean would give the retro look the finish it needs. Throw on some TKEES or even better, some high platforms and you’ve got the look!

Ashley is not shy about her love of accessories. I wasn’t too shocked that out of all the Rapunzel’s ladies, Ashley was the only one to choose one of our trendy accessories as her Spotlight Item. After all, every girl knows no outfit is complete without accessorization!

“The CC Design Tassel is definitely my favorite necklace that we’re carrying at the moment. I love the different color wooden beads Christine uses and most of all, I’m obsessed with the turquoise. The hints of gold don’t hurt either!”

Our store buyer, Hallie lives in the heart of New York City. With NYC as her home-base, Hallie makes sure that Rapunzel’s Closet has a head-start on the seasonal trends. As a full-time buyer, wife, and mom Hallie still manages to keep a seamless style that is all her own.

For her Spotlight Item, Hallie was quick to decide on the LNA Desert Crew Tee in black. It may look like a basic at first glance, but we had our lovely model Sarah show us the surprise trend the top plays on!

Rachel’s Spotlight Item: Show Me Your Mumu Sarah Swing Tank

It didn’t take me more than two seconds to pick out my Spotlight Item. The Show Me Your Mumu Sarah Swing Tank is, hands down, my favorite item we have in the store!

While pink is not a color that you’ll often find in my wardrobe, this Barbie-like top is definitely something I can see myself picking to wear for a night out with the girls. I’d choose distressed cut-off shorts or perhaps my favorite white jeans to pair with it. Since the top by itself makes quite a few statements, I would keep my accessories minimal. The less outfit choices I have to make, the better off I am!

Spotlight Item: Stephanie

Stephanie had a particularly easy time picking out her Spotlight Item. Just the day before I asked her to pick out her favorite item, we had received a brand new line at the store called Goddis. Known for their knitwear, Goddis is what’s on all the girl’s minds. It’s no surprise that our Store Manager Stephanie, called dibs on the Indie Shorts for her item!

“As soon as we got these shorts, I immediately put them on display in the front of the store. They’re so different and unlike anything we have in stock right now. Everybody can appreciate a classic jean short, but these Indie Shorts are something I can definitely justify buying for my summer wardrobe!” –Stephanie
