#OOTD: Maxi Dress | Styled 2 Ways

This week Steph and Christina are styling the Pink Stitch Resort Maxi Dress two different ways. Take it away Girls!

Steph:
Coastal Chic

I am in love with this Pink Stitch Resort Maxi Dress in Azure Blue. It’s the perfect flowy maxi for a hot summer day at Rapunzel’s.

During the day at work my “must haves” are  an arm full of Bourbon & Boweties Bracelets (coins & a sea of blue are my favorites) & TKEES on my feet. These days I can’t get enough of TKEES in Coco Butter and Sea Snake. I completed my mermaid look today with a pair of Sea Snake.

After work I can throw on a chunky beaded belt for a sunset cruise on the boat! (Margaritas are a non-negotiable!) I added an Annie Fischer Pineapple Pouch for my cell phone, lip gloss, sunnies & keys and I’m ready to go!

A Preppy State of Dress

There is this little old saying that goes; you must always have the perfect little black dress. Well, on Palm Beach the perfect little black dress actually translates into the perfect little summer dress. When I set my eyes on the new Pink Stitch Resort Maxi Dress I just knew I had to have it. I went for an effortless chic look without all the fuss that goes into making an outfit.

Sometimes, it really is better to go with the saying, less is more. I made sure to keep the jewelry to a minimum only accenting it with Bourbon & Boweties Bracelets and a Zacasha tassel necklace. I knew I would be spending the day running errands around Palm Beach, so I made sure to keep the shoes simple. You can often catch me rocking my TKEES or some other fashionable flat around town. So leave all the fuss at home, grab your favorite clutch and aviator sunglasses and you’re good to go!

#OOTD: Camo Pants | Styled 2 Ways

When you work with a bunch of fashionable girls who like to snap things up at the store the second they arrive, there are a lot of times where we come to work in the same items! This was the case the other day with Christina and Hallie who both recently purchased the Current/Elliott Drawstring Lounge Trousers in the camo print. Because we all clearly have such different style this was the perfect opportunity to show how to wear these pants 2 different ways!

Christina (pictured on the left) paired her pants with a navy tee tucked in. We’ve officially decided that we are loving the Navy/Camo combo she’s got going on here. What a great way to jazz up a very classic color! Christina completed her look with her favorite pair of TKEES in Cocobutter.

Hallie (pictured on the right) combined a few trends into one outfit. She paired her pants with a “trend of the minute” racer back crop top and a pair of strappy metallic sandals. Birkenstocks (another trend of the minute) would be super cute with this look too!

Both girls kept their jewelry simple – just a few Bourbon & Boweties bangles and sunnies of course!!

A couple of other tips:

• Keep the top simple when you are wearing a print pant. Solids work best but if you are a risk taker/trend setter an easy print would work here too!
• Make sure to balance out your look – if the pant is slouchy you want something a little sleeker on top.
• Choose the correct shoes! Flip flops and flat sandals always work well and cute strappy wedges will dress up the look for evening.

Esther Knows Best!

Mama Knows Best-Our Store Mama! Esther!

This week’s “Mama Knows Best” is a particularly special one. For those of who you frequent our kid’s store, you will most definitely know (and love) our very own Esther Evans! Recognize that last name? She’s Rapunzel’s mother! And as you can see from her retro chic pictures, style certainly runs in this family!

A California girl at heart, Esther knows the importance of a great outfit. We couldn’t help but be envious of her Groucho Marx sweater layered with a collared shirt—so easy to picture this same exact look in one of our favorite fashion blogs. I guess great style really is timeless!

While we don’t have any Marx Brothers memorabilia in our store at the moment, we decided to recreate this preppy look with some of our newest additions to our sales floor! On top, we have the Margaret O’Leary Petit Collared Crew sweater—the best part? It’s a two-fer! No layering necessary!

We thought the Splendid Circle Skirt would be perfect on the bottom. Notice our signature Tkee Flip Flops missing? Have no fear; these shoes are still by our favorite brand! The Tkees Senny’s are our new favorite shoe for the fall and winter months! We think they complement this look by adding to the prepster style!

What’s In My Beach Bag… and Win a Gift Card!

As I was doing my Friday morning ritual of cleaning out and re-packing my beach bag in preparation for a weekend of chasing my kiddo around the pool, I was laughing at the amount of things that I feel are “necessities” for our activities. Most of these “must-haves” can be found at Rapunzel’s Closet. This exercise inspired me to do the blogger’s “obligatory:” What’s In My Beach Bag Post.
Sadly, this is only a portion of what I carry to the pool with us each weekend. The bag is still filled with tennis clothes, extra swim suits, rash guards, an additional outfit for both myself and my little, and clean Hanky Panky undies of course! I never forget my US Weekly Magazine either – it’s my mini-vacay while my little naps.
Literally, the first purchase that I made after my son was born and we had “officially” announced his name, was my L.L Bean Boat and Tote Bag with his monogram. I truly believe that I cannot survive my summer without it. It seems to be bottomless and yet I can always find what I need. Of course you’ll see how many other bags I carry within it which makes it easier for me to find things. I also carry RCR’s Jesse Walker lunch bag. I love this insulated bag because I can fit all of his snacks and an ice pack fits perfectly in the inner pocket. It smushes easily to fit in my bag, yet doesn’t totally crush his snacks. I wish we sold these at Lil Rapunzel’s – I’d buy one for each day of the week. Another staple in my weekend life is my white waffle makeup case. It’s lined in plastic and holds my “pool” makeup in case we decide to stay for drinks or dinner. Unfortunately we no longer carry these in store, but there are plenty of places that offer a white monogrammed makeup case! I also happen to be a little obsessed with monograms in case you hadn’t noticed.
I have a blonde hair, blue eyed child so I plow through sunscreen like it’s my job. I love the BabyGanics Sunscreen Spray because it doesn’t have bad chemicals. Something about the label and the big NO just makes me feel good about using this line. What I love about the spray is that I can cover a large amount of area before my tot starts running towards the pool. This isn’t an aerosol can so it’s not emitting fumes of any sort either!

The newest additions to my beach bag this summer are my Hayden Reis Sailcloth Bags. I was carrying my Sunscreen around in a Ziploc, (apparently a big no-no) but now I have it in this super cute “sunscreen specific” bag. As an added bonus – the bright orange color makes it easy to find! I also love the Anchor Bikini Bag. While you won’t find me sporting a bikini while I’m chasing around a 2-year old, it’s great for getting all of our wet clothes home after a day at the pool. These bags are made of super durable and lightweight sailcloth and they are way more chic than a plastic bag!

Snapping Turtle Kids Toddler Navy Swim Trunk ~ $52

My son goes through no less than 4 bathing suits per weekend. I love this Snapping Turtle Kids simple navy swim trunk because I know that it will match whatever rashguard I have in my bag. These suits aren’t lined so they don’t leave marks on my toddler’s chunky thighs. Baby swim designers always forget that these little guys wear swim diapers for a while so they don’t need a liner. Snapping Turtle Kids really understands how to make a swim trunk for a little swimmer!

When I got to the bottom of my bag I noticed that I had THREE different pairs of TKEES in the bag.  My collection seems to have migrated from my closet to the beach bag. I have probably thrown a different pair in every weekend for the last month and never actually cleaned any out. Knowing me – I’d probably wear three different pairs in one day anyway. Totally normal, right?

Steal This Look: Whitney City

Whitney Port started her career as Lauren Conrad’s co-worker in MTV’s, “The Hills.” However, it was Whitney’s chic threads and laid-back attitude that got her noticed against the backdrop of the loud, Hollywood drama. Once MTV gave Whitney her own show, “The City,” the spotlight was now solely on her and she had the stage she needed to make her fashion statements. With that, Ms. Port will be our inspiration for this week’s Steal This Look!

As a frequent attendee of rock festivals, Whitney has got her casual style down to a T. We chose this pic of Whitney in a top that looks shockingly similar to our Generation Love Vinnie Animal Print Tee. While Whitney pairs the black and white printed top with a pair of Aztec printed shorts, we chose a more basic bottom by adding the Rae Francis Jace Short. The scalloped hem adds a feminine touch to the navy and royal blue shorts and is a nice contrast to the printed top.

Add a pair of Black Tie Tkees and your Whitney-inspired duds are complete. Now buy that concert ticket and get your summer started! Live your life like the cameras follow you! After all, that’s what Whitney does!
