Kid’s Korner ~ Andy & Evan For Little Gentlemen

21 Feb

As a clothing buyer it’s always hard trying to figure out what the next best thing is going to be. As a Mom, it’s even harder trying to find cute boy clothing. You can imagine my “two birds with one stone” excitement when I came across the line Andy & Evan For Little Gentlemen while shopping at kid’s boutique in Birmingham, Michigan of all places!

blog Infant Gingham Shirtzie ~ $51
Infant Chambray Shorts ~ $39

Andy & Evan left their jobs in corporate America when they too noticed a void for well-made boys clothing in the children’s clothing marketplace. While they started their design careers in men’s shirting, it’s the little gents clothing that really has us excited! Plus we love saying the word “shirtzie.” This line is truly well-made, creative and different from everything else available for our little guys. Mine is definitely going to be sporting some of these pieces soon!
blog Toddler Shirting $54
blog Lil’ Gents Hoodie $57
Twill Shorts ~ $36-$38

All styles available at Lil Rapunzel’s ~ 561-659-3131

Closet Gossip: Gift Guide Part 4 ~ Rachel

5 Dec

Here at Rapunzel’s Closet, the girls have started to find themselves wondering who will be on their lists this year and what the perfect gift for that special someone may be. For “Rapunzel’s Gift Giving Guide,” we had a few of our most thoughtful selling associates narrow down and pick two of their favorite items that they hope to be giving holiday season. Yesterday we featured Kristen’s picks. Today is all about yours truly – Rachel the newest member of the Rapunzel’s Closet team!
blog

Palm Beach Prep is the theme of my holiday gifts. Now that the winter weather forcing us to cover up a bit more than usual, the perfect sweater may just be best gift to give this holiday.

Minnie Rose makes a second appearance in our Gift Giving Guide with my choice the cotton Shaker striped sweater. The bright orange, lime and periwinkle blue stripes (among other colors) combine beautifully to make this comfy knit.

“When I first saw this sweater, I immediately thought of about 8 people who would love to get it as a gift. I can see it with a pair of white jeans and cute sandals or maybe even with a fun maxi skirt. While I usually go for more muted colors, these bright colors will catch anybody’s attention. I’m a little tempted to buy it for myself!”

The Oxford loafer has made big waves in fashion this season. And these Del Toro loafers add a new flavor to the classic shoe. The brand was started in Miami and is quickly becoming a major trend, even far beyond South Florida.

“These soft pink patent leather loafers are the epitome of retro girly-girl. I can definitely see my girlfriends wearing these with cute dresses or a cropped pant. They are simple enough that they’re understated and chic, yet different enough that they are unique. And as the brand gets more popular, I can see them showing off how they had them before everyone else started wearing them!”

Minnie Rose sweater: $165.00
Del Toro loafers: $325.00

Closet Gossip: Gift Guide Part 3 ~ Kristen

4 Dec

Here at Rapunzel’s Closet, the girls have started to find themselves wondering who will be on their lists this year and what the perfect gift for that special someone may be. For “Rapunzel’s Gift Giving Guide,” we had a few of our most thoughtful selling associates narrow down and pick two of their favorite items that they hope to be giving holiday season. Last week we featured Stephanie and Sarah’s picks. Today is all about Kristen who works on our selling floor but is also the master of all of our logistics. She does a great job! We are so lucky to have her on our team!blog

Kristen loves her accessories; you’ll never catch her coming into work without them. Therefore, it makes sense why she chose two of Rapunzel’s most popular accessories as her favorite gift ideas.

The Love Quote scarves are not only a favorite among celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Jessica Biel, and Rachel Bilson; they are also a favorite among Rapunzel girls!

“Each of us at the store own at least one. They come in so many colors that it’s hard to choose your favorite, nonetheless the best color for someone else! I would probably give the Portobello color; it’s a nice neutral and would go with mostly anything. When giving gifts, I like to know that it’s something they are going to actually get a lot of use out of, not something that’s going to sit in their closet.”

Kristen also chose the Stacked bracelets that Rapunzel’s recently started carrying. The bracelets come in several different styles and colors, each going perfectly well with the other. Living up to their name, these bracelets are perfect for stacking and pairing with other different style bracelets.

“I was so excited when we started carrying these. The ocean themed ones are sweet and the colored beads are so trendy right now. But my favorite bracelets are the zodiac bracelets. They’re great to give to all ages—all you need to know is their birthday and you can buy the right one. Horoscopes are a guilty pleasure for a lot of people, so I think it’s a fun and risk-free gift to give.”

Love Quote scarf: $88.00
Stacked bracelets: Prices vary from $22.00-$64.00

Decade: Opening Rapunzel’s Closet

9 Nov

We’re continuing our trip down memory lane with the opening of Rapunzel’s Closet and more of our interview with Rapunzel!

blog Coming Soon Signage Before the Opening of Rapunzel’s Closet on Royal Poinciana Way

blog Painted in her favorite signature purple

While working in her new shop, Randi soon began to acknowledge the shortage of local places to buy edgy, fashion-forward clothing. Known for its more sophisticated, tailored and polished look, Palm Beach did not offer Randi and her creative contemporaries the trend-setting selections they craved. So, in September 2003, Randi called on her innate sense of style and business savvy to open her first clothing boutique Rapunzel’s Closet, two doors down from the gift shop, on Royal Poinciana Way.
blog

Just as Lilly Pulitzer paved the way for the pastel prints the area is often associated with, Randi introduced stodgy Palm Beach to a wide range of designers that the island’s denizens often had to pick up on their globetrotting travels. Jeans became the shops calling card, along with an eclectic mix of new and well-known fashion and accessories designers. The resulting success was instant – so much so – that just three months later Randi introduced her second boutique of the same name, on the opposite side of Palm Beach, just off chic shopping destination Worth Avenue.

 1. What was your biggest challenge in opening the first Rapunzel’s Closet?

RES: My biggest challenge in open in the adult store is that I didn’t know how much to buy of each item.  I completely overbought.  But that was a blessing. I put the overstock in an empty frame store space on S. County and that because my next and current clothing store!

1.       How did you get the nickname Rapunzel?
RES: My dad gave it to me when I was born.  I think he really liked the name Rapunzel and to this day, still calls me by it.

2.       How did you decide on the Rapunzel’s Branding? The RC logo, bag/tissue colors?
RES: My grandma’s favorite color was purple, and when I was little she had a gift shop in the front of my grandpa’s postcard company’s warehouse.  So I wanted a purple store.  And I thought the lime green was a good accent color to go with it.
3.       What was your favorite part about owning the gift shop?
RES: My favorite part of the shop was merchandising.  I loved moving things around, cleaning and reorganizing. (It’s still my favorite part today)

4.       What gift item was your favorite to sell?
RES: My favorite gift item to sell were the wooden animal clocks.  They were so unique, and handmade in the US. I loved selling them and sometimes I was even able to customize them.  We once made a blue pelican for the Palm Beach Day School auction.

We Shoot Rain or Shine or Blazing Heat

12 Oct

blog

Our most recent photo shoot was met with its fair share of challenges. We had to brave the blazing heat while we were trying to showcase Fall’s finest. It was pouring of course because it’s hurricane season in Florida. We put on our prettiest faces and did our best to “not melt” in the down pours and made the proverbial lemons out of lemonade.  Here’s a sneak peek behind the scenes!

blog Stunning Gia with her hair up waiting to dash out and do a quick shot in this fabulous Elizabeth and James Lori Chiffon Tank and Nichole Skirt.
blog We always like to showcase pieces from our Jewelry Selection. How great does this CC Design  necklace look with the Joie Purine Leopard top? Sarah looks gorg too.. we promise!

blog We found a bit of shelter in a gazebo in a public park. Gia is waiting for our amazing photographer Rob to get setup for the shoot. We’re loving Splendid’s Baby Cord Button Down in Swan paired with AG Stilt Jeans in Smitten and an Auburn Pigment Short Sleeve Tee From James Perse.

Love that tote in the first picture? It’s Dogeared and we’re obsessed!

Intermezzo: Ode to Minnie Rose

15 Aug

blogIf you haven’t tried on one of Minnie Rose’s luxurious cashmere sweaters you are really missing out. That’s how our love affair of all things Minnie Rose began a long time ago! The Resort Collection is always our favorite to see! The color palatte is sprinkled with happy pinks, greens and blues. Our old faithful favorites like sand and white always come back for Resort too. There were a few new additions to the line that we absolutely died for. blog Why not take our favorite Cashmere Pow Wow 3/4 length sleeve sweater and add buttons to it and make it a cardigan. Genius! We want one in every color! (no joke) blog Can you see that gorgeous Gold Metallic Vest on the MR rep? Yep – the one that is fabulously styled over the white tank and the jeans. We’re going to copy that exact look for our own closets. It’s a Resort MUST for 2012!

Some of our other favorites were the really fun Zig Zag Tank Dresses and Ruana Ponchos – we bought just about every color. For those of you who are Minnie Rose die hards, the Long Sleeve Striped Crew Neck Dresses are back and there are Solid Tank Dresses available in all the gorg Resort colors… sigh! blog Our ode to all things Minnie Rose just wouldn’t be complete without a shout out to our favorite Minnie Rose Rep Denise. Here she is pictured with Rapunzel herself. We love gabbing with her, we love when she calls us weekly and we love playing Scrabble and Scramble with her! Denise you rock!
