Stache and Shop!

13 Nov

Stache and Shop
Have you noticed a stark increase in local guys checking out their facial hair in every mirror they pass? Yes, us too!

That must mean one thing-it must be “Movember”! Every man’s favorite month of the year! Where they are allowed, and expected, to grow a mustache to show support for men’s health.

blog

But the fun wasn’t just for the boys anymore, Rapunzel’s Closet decided to get in on the fun by hosting our very own Stache and Shop event! And lucky for us, our lovely lady customers somehow managed to still look gorge even with some full-on, facial fur! Only in Palm Beach!

Some of our favorite customers stopped by and received 20% off of their purchases, just for being good sports!

blog

“My boyfriend is having way too much fun “manscaping” his stache–I can’t wait to show him a picture of me with this on so he can see what I go through,” said one of our favorite shoppers while sporting a bright purple handlebar mustache. “And by then he wont have the heart to be mad at me for bringing home a pair of these Hudson jeans!”

Mama Knows Best ~ Hallie

Mama Knows Best: Hallie’s Mom
blog

Style seems to run in the families of all of our girls at Rapunzel’s Closet, and our buyer, Hallie, is no exception. Hallie’s mother, Beth-Anne, has obviously taught Hallie the importance of personal style; lucky for us, Hallie has landed herself a job where she can share this natural knack for style with all of us here at Rapunzel’s Closet.

“My mother has always stayed close to the trends of the season but likes to purchase classic pieces that are wardrobe mainstays and mix trends in as they come and go. I can definitely say that I take a similar approach to my personal style.”

This awesome picture of Beth-Anne has greatly inspired us—we find it hard not to imagine what her day in San Francisco was like when she had this picture taken! Exciting times and even more exciting styles!

To re-create this look we decided to play up the wide-leg flare with some Hudsons! The Mia Five-Pocket Flare is essential in this look. To duplicate her layered look, we paired the Vince V-Neck in Eggplant with a white Equipment Signature Blouse. Accessories include a pair of Rapunzel’s Jewelry Box Hoop Earrings and a retro, crochet Missoni Scarf! We are loving this look!
Thanks for inspiring us, Hallie’s Mom! Peace and Love!

Hudson Mia Five Pocket Flare-$50.00 SALE!
Vince V-neck: $ 325.00
Equipment Signature Blouse: $208.00
Rapunzel’s Jewelry Box Silver Hoops: $38.00

Steal This Look ~ Alexa Chung

Steal This Look: Star Style
blog

Alexa Chung has inspired this week’s Steal This Look entry. This stylish Brit has tried her hand at modeling, hosting, and even editing for Vogue. Her tomboy taste has earned her a reputation as one of the most coveted and imitated styles to come out of England since Kate Moss.

It wasn’t hard for us to choose a Chung-like look to duplicate. It ended up being one of Alexa’s signature street-style looks that we decided to re-work using Rapunzel’s gear.

blog
The star print top Alexa is sporting looks really similar to the Equipment Signature Blouse we currently carry. This silky top can be worn  dressy or casual.  We love how Alexa paired it with an edgy, cut-off short. We took the casual route and paired the top with the Hudson Amber Raw-Edge Short in the Indie wash. The lighter wash is perfect for summer and it off-sets the darkness of the top. Lastly, we used a Bourbon and Boweties Necklace in the black Agate stone to add a little something extra.

Beat the heat with a pair of nude TKEES or play up the edge with your favorite pair of Converse. You’ll be worth enough to saunter the London streets with Ms. Chung, herself.

Equipment Signature Star Top: $248.00
Hudson Amber Raw Edge Short: $169.00
Bourbon and Bowetie Tassel Necklace: $70.00

Closet Gossip: Randi’s Style Obsessions

18 Mar

Contrary to popular belief, not all princesses love pink dresses and diamond tiaras. Randi, aka Rapunzel, is more likely to rock edgy looks comprised of ripped jeans; band t-shirts and Chuck Taylors than her fairy-tale namesake.
blog
Camouflage is no longer for the rugged duck hunter. The Equipment Sloane Crew Sweater in Desert Storm has just enough of a feminine touch be appealing for even a girly-girl. With the Hudson Krista Crop in the Blondie wash on bottom, this look only needs a simple, dark-toned Love Quotes Scarf. We chose the Espresso color to amp up the “camo” trend.
blog
For the sake of style, we did a quick-change on top. We replaced the Equipment sweater with the Cotton by Autumn Cashmere Crochet Skull Sweater in Tangelo. The simple front of the sweater is made up by the intricacy of the skull design on the back. If you’ve spent any time in New York recently, you’ll know that this skull design is EVERYWHERE and Randi wanted to make sure that this style was available for her customers. If orange is too far out of your comfort zone, this sweater also comes in Black and Dark Navy.

So if you’re like Randi and would rather be rocking out to Bon Jovi than partaking in preppy princess duties, come pick up some of Randi’s style obsessions. You’ll be the belle of the ball rock show.

Equipment Sloane Crew Sweater in Desert Storm: $298.00
Love Quotes Scarf in Espresso: $88.00
Hudson Krista Crop in Blonde Wash: $216.00
Autumn Cashmere Crochet Skull Sweater in Tangelo: $253.00
Missoni Fringe Scarf in Orange and Purple: $196

New Feature: Steal This Look

18 Jan

Our guest blogger Rachel has been home sick with the flu so we thought we’d share her latest post to brighten her and everyone’s day!

Steal This Look: Duchess of Cambridge ~ Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton is the subject of our first “Steal This Look” post. A very fitting choice, considering that here at Rapunzel’s Closet we are inspired by all things “Princess.”

As soon as Kate first starting appearing in the media, we were been fascinated by her natural beauty and classic-cool style. Over time her style has transformed from sporty school girl to royal chic—always remaining a style icon to many.

This week we decided take one of the Duchess’ classic looks and put our own Palm Beach twist on it using some our favorite pieces from the store.

Of all of Kate’s looks, we loved her choice of threads when she visited Olympic Park back in March.  She stood out wearing bright colors while mixing in her signature timeless pieces. We tapped into our new Selling Associate Monica’s modeling skills to show how a few simple pieces can make you feel like a princess for a day.
blog

From head-to-toe Monica is wearing the Elizabeth and James Crepe Heather Blazer, Vince Double-Layer Long-sleeve striped shirt, and the Hudson Collin Skinny in Suede Rose.
If you look closely, you can see Monica is sporting one of Rapunzel’s new Palm Beach Lately Arrow necklaces—an understated accessory that we definitely can see Kate adding on to any of her outfits.

Elizabeth and James Crepe Heather Blazer: $495.00
Vince Long-sleeve Stripe Shirt: $125.00
Hudson Collin Skinny in Suede Rose: $165.00
Palm Beach Lately Arrow Necklace: $78.00

Decade: Looking Backwards and Forward!

19 Dec

We finish up our “Decade: Where It All Began” series with the final questions in our interview with Rapunzel herself, Randi Evans Siegal. We hope you have enjoyed this walk down memory lane as much as we have enjoyed putting it all together! blog

1. What has surprised you the most about the business in the last 10 Years?
RES: In the last 10 years I’ve seen a lot of stores go in and out, but there is a good group of us who have been consistent and are on the Island to stay. I’m most surprised that my not-so-typical Palm Beach style has been so attractive to the locals. blog

2. Where do you envision the business 10 Years from now?
RES: In 10 Years I envision the same, though I would like a larger children’s store. I just need to find the right “space.” I love how the adult store merchandise changes with the times but is still consistent to the core. blog3. What is your favorite thing about the business today?
RES: Definitely the employees! Everyone pitches in and the store + the merchandise really represents all of our individual style.
blog
4. If you were a customer what would your favorite items in the store be?
RES: I love the skinny cords in bright colors that we have right now from Citizens of Humanity, Hudson Jeans, J Brand and AG Jeans. The concert band tees from Chaser LA are my favorite go-to casual tees. Last but not least TKEES flip flops. I wear them every day, even on a day in NYC where it’s in the 50s.

5. What is the funniest thing that has happened in the past 10 Years that maybe wasn’t funny at the time but now you can look back and laugh?
RES: I once had a customer come in with a parrot on her shoulder. The parrot pooped in the store. Looking back it’s pretty funny!

Behind The Scenes: The Fall Photo Shoot

14 Sep

blog Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of one of our photo shoots? Besides a lot of laughing and having fun because we love what we do – there is a lot of hard work that goes into selecting the outfits and locations for our shoots. Here is a look into our behind the scenes taken by our photo shoot stylist Stephanie. blog

Step 1. We choose the outfits. Stephanie starts by having a conversation with our buyer Hallie to determine what items we want to feature for the month.

Step 2. Stephanie pulls together all of the outfits, takes pictures of them and sends them to Hallie for a second opinion.

Step 3. Stephanie chooses the jewelry she wants to feature with each outfit.

blog

Step 4. She selects a group of locations and discusses them with our photographer Robert. blog
Step 5. The day of the shoot the models arrive and they set out to the first location. blog
Step 6. Robert sets up each shot and makes sure that every picture looks its best! blog
Step 7. After a bit of shooting the girls start getting silly! blog
Step 8. It’s back to business and Rob finishes shooting all the pictures and then heads back to the offices to download and touch them up.

Step 9. Stephanie chooses the best of the best and sends them to Hallie who coordinates how each picture will be used.

blog
The whole process takes 2-3 days of hard work but the results are always fabulous!

The Girls are wearing looks from Vince, Chaser LA, Hudson Jeans, Splendid, Free People, Patterson J. Kincaid and Citizens of Humanity. The sunnies and the shoes are their own. The jewelry is from our Rapunzel’s Jewelry Box collection. Call us at 561.659.5300 to inquire about any of the outfits you see here.
