Rapunzel’s Gift Guide: Moms and Teens

20 Nov

Lots of great things come with the holidays. Great food, family time, early morning mimosas and being able to wear that cashmere sweater you bought on sale last year.

But with it also comes a little holiday stress.  And if you’re anything like us, we tend to feel the pressure to give the coolest gifts to our loved ones. You know, the ones that don’t require tucked away gift receipts and the phrase, “If you don’t like it, you can just return it and get something you actually like!”

Relent no more. Rapunzel is here to give you some gift ideas for both the woman who brought you into this world and the ever-picky teens in your life.

Moms tend to be known for telling you that a hand-written card or letter is gift enough for her. But we know better. So we put together some things that will have any mom re-thinking her new favorite child.

Peace Love World Love Note for Mom Scarf: $60
Give Scent Perfume: $46
Joie Mosselle Waffle Sweater: $258
TKEES Senny’s: $115

Teens. This is where things tend to get tricky. But lucky for you, we picked some of our best sellers from the store. And if they’re still on the fence. Tell them that you could have sworn you saw Selena Gomez rocking the same exact outfit and brand in last week’s US Weekly.

Dye it Up tie dye short: $46
Dirtee Hollywood Burnout Start Tee: $42

Closet Gossip: Sarah’s Style Obessions

4 Feb

Sarah is no stranger to Rapunzel’s Closet trendy style. She can be seen modeling Rapunzel looks on our homepage! As our resident model, Sarah has gotten a chance to sport nearly every item in the store, and we were curious to see which pieces are her favorites.

Sjobeck Dolman Sweater-$176

Sjobeck is a Malibu-based brand we just introduced to Rapunzel’s Closet. The classic designs fit right into any closet. They are perfect for the timeless Florida Beach Gal or the Northern Prepster. As a native Floridian, it’s no surprise that Sarah was drawn to the sleek style that can take her from a day out in the sun to a breezy night by the bonfire. She chose the Sjobeck Striped Dolman Sweater in navy –  elbow pads included which appeal to her inner tomboy.
blogCitizen of Humanity Avedon Skinny-$209

Everyone has their favorite brand of jeans, and Citizens of Humanity is Sarah’s. The slim fit and lower rise flatter a variety of different body types. The comfortable fabrics and trendy styles are the icing. Sarah narrowed down her Citizens favorites to the Avedon Skinny in the Hound wash. The lighter grey wash is a nice alternative to the everyday denim and looks great paired with a dark top like the Sjobeck sweater.

Leighelena Bracelets
Python with buckle-$110
Lizard double-wrap-$125

We all know that an outfit isn’t complete without the right accessories. Lately Sarah has been obsessing over the Leighelena bracelets. The ones pictured are made of genuine lizard and python and are neutral enough that they can easily be worn daily by themselves or as layered. No matter what your preference is, Rapunzel’s Closet can provide these exotic animal accessories—no hunting gear needed.

Decade: Looking Backwards and Forward!

19 Dec

We finish up our “Decade: Where It All Began” series with the final questions in our interview with Rapunzel herself, Randi Evans Siegal. We hope you have enjoyed this walk down memory lane as much as we have enjoyed putting it all together! blog

1. What has surprised you the most about the business in the last 10 Years?
RES: In the last 10 years I’ve seen a lot of stores go in and out, but there is a good group of us who have been consistent and are on the Island to stay. I’m most surprised that my not-so-typical Palm Beach style has been so attractive to the locals. blog

2. Where do you envision the business 10 Years from now?
RES: In 10 Years I envision the same, though I would like a larger children’s store. I just need to find the right “space.” I love how the adult store merchandise changes with the times but is still consistent to the core. blog3. What is your favorite thing about the business today?
RES: Definitely the employees! Everyone pitches in and the store + the merchandise really represents all of our individual style.
blog
4. If you were a customer what would your favorite items in the store be?
RES: I love the skinny cords in bright colors that we have right now from Citizens of Humanity, Hudson Jeans, J Brand and AG Jeans. The concert band tees from Chaser LA are my favorite go-to casual tees. Last but not least TKEES flip flops. I wear them every day, even on a day in NYC where it’s in the 50s.

5. What is the funniest thing that has happened in the past 10 Years that maybe wasn’t funny at the time but now you can look back and laugh?
RES: I once had a customer come in with a parrot on her shoulder. The parrot pooped in the store. Looking back it’s pretty funny!

Behind The Scenes: The Fall Photo Shoot

14 Sep

blog Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of one of our photo shoots? Besides a lot of laughing and having fun because we love what we do – there is a lot of hard work that goes into selecting the outfits and locations for our shoots. Here is a look into our behind the scenes taken by our photo shoot stylist Stephanie. blog

Step 1. We choose the outfits. Stephanie starts by having a conversation with our buyer Hallie to determine what items we want to feature for the month.

Step 2. Stephanie pulls together all of the outfits, takes pictures of them and sends them to Hallie for a second opinion.

Step 3. Stephanie chooses the jewelry she wants to feature with each outfit.

blog

Step 4. She selects a group of locations and discusses them with our photographer Robert. blog
Step 5. The day of the shoot the models arrive and they set out to the first location. blog
Step 6. Robert sets up each shot and makes sure that every picture looks its best! blog
Step 7. After a bit of shooting the girls start getting silly! blog
Step 8. It’s back to business and Rob finishes shooting all the pictures and then heads back to the offices to download and touch them up.

Step 9. Stephanie chooses the best of the best and sends them to Hallie who coordinates how each picture will be used.

blog
The whole process takes 2-3 days of hard work but the results are always fabulous!

The Girls are wearing looks from Vince, Chaser LA, Hudson Jeans, Splendid, Free People, Patterson J. Kincaid and Citizens of Humanity. The sunnies and the shoes are their own. The jewelry is from our Rapunzel’s Jewelry Box collection. Call us at 561.659.5300 to inquire about any of the outfits you see here.

Vegas: FUN!

28 Aug

While I’d like to tell you that we had our fabulous best on for both nights of our Vegas partying – that was not the case. We went from the airport to the ENK Show and hit up the Hudson Jeans/ENK Cocktail party directly after the show. While our airport attire is chic (of course) there isn’t a whole lot of new “what we wore” to discuss. Here are a few snaps of our visit to Surrender Night Club at the Encore Hotel. Note the cheesy poolside glamour shots!

blog blog Night 2 we were able to do a wardrobe change post show for our fabulous dinner at STK. Loved the booming 80s soundtrack, loved the company and loved the truffled fries even more! YUM! We were joined by our friend Erica and her man Tal who were also attending the shows in Vegas. Erica is a huge advocate for Save the Garment District – something near and dear to us too! blog

Here we told Erica and Randi to give us their sassiest STK cool girl pose. blog

Here’s a snap of Kristin and I right before our burrata and heirloom tomato salad is served! Worth every calorie. blog

Our evening didn’t end at STK but we can’t show you those pictures because we left those good times in Vegas!

Until next year – we’re counting the days already!!

What we wore: J Brand, Lanston, Citizens of Humanity, Nanette Lepore (shout out to Erica) Love Quotes and of course our favorite heels from Louboutain and Gucci
