#OOTD: Maxi Dress | Styled 2 Ways

This week Steph and Christina are styling the Pink Stitch Resort Maxi Dress two different ways. Take it away Girls!

Steph:
Coastal Chic

I am in love with this Pink Stitch Resort Maxi Dress in Azure Blue. It’s the perfect flowy maxi for a hot summer day at Rapunzel’s.

During the day at work my “must haves” are  an arm full of Bourbon & Boweties Bracelets (coins & a sea of blue are my favorites) & TKEES on my feet. These days I can’t get enough of TKEES in Coco Butter and Sea Snake. I completed my mermaid look today with a pair of Sea Snake.

After work I can throw on a chunky beaded belt for a sunset cruise on the boat! (Margaritas are a non-negotiable!) I added an Annie Fischer Pineapple Pouch for my cell phone, lip gloss, sunnies & keys and I’m ready to go!

Christina:
A Preppy State of Dress

There is this little old saying that goes; you must always have the perfect little black dress. Well, on Palm Beach the perfect little black dress actually translates into the perfect little summer dress. When I set my eyes on the new Pink Stitch Resort Maxi Dress I just knew I had to have it. I went for an effortless chic look without all the fuss that goes into making an outfit.

Sometimes, it really is better to go with the saying, less is more. I made sure to keep the jewelry to a minimum only accenting it with Bourbon & Boweties Bracelets and a Zacasha tassel necklace. I knew I would be spending the day running errands around Palm Beach, so I made sure to keep the shoes simple. You can often catch me rocking my TKEES or some other fashionable flat around town. So leave all the fuss at home, grab your favorite clutch and aviator sunglasses and you’re good to go!

#OOTD: Camo Pants | Styled 2 Ways

When you work with a bunch of fashionable girls who like to snap things up at the store the second they arrive, there are a lot of times where we come to work in the same items! This was the case the other day with Christina and Hallie who both recently purchased the Current/Elliott Drawstring Lounge Trousers in the camo print. Because we all clearly have such different style this was the perfect opportunity to show how to wear these pants 2 different ways!

Christina (pictured on the left) paired her pants with a navy tee tucked in. We’ve officially decided that we are loving the Navy/Camo combo she’s got going on here. What a great way to jazz up a very classic color! Christina completed her look with her favorite pair of TKEES in Cocobutter.

Hallie (pictured on the right) combined a few trends into one outfit. She paired her pants with a “trend of the minute” racer back crop top and a pair of strappy metallic sandals. Birkenstocks (another trend of the minute) would be super cute with this look too!

Both girls kept their jewelry simple – just a few Bourbon & Boweties bangles and sunnies of course!!

A couple of other tips:

• Keep the top simple when you are wearing a print pant. Solids work best but if you are a risk taker/trend setter an easy print would work here too!
• Make sure to balance out your look – if the pant is slouchy you want something a little sleeker on top.
• Choose the correct shoes! Flip flops and flat sandals always work well and cute strappy wedges will dress up the look for evening.

We Love Flavor

Rapunzel’s Closet had the honor of being asked to be the official retail sponsor for the Flavor Palm Beach Grand Tasting Gala on September 5th, 2013. The evening was perfect! The food was outstanding, the drinks were flowing, the setting at Palm Beach Motor Cars was fabulous, the fashion was MAHJ, and most important everyone was contributing to Share our Strength!  Every fashion show needs a couple of stage hands right? Store Manager Stephanie Hall and Buyer Hallie Rosenthal kept things running smoothly behind the scenes.
 Minnie Rose generously donated tank dresses and Ruana sequin ponchos to the It! Girls. Lindsey White, Jennifer Harner and Aime Dunstan looked stunning!!
 Bourbon and Boweties brought the bling for the night.

Steal This Look: Star Style

Alexa Chung has inspired this week’s Steal This Look entry. This stylish Brit has tried her hand at modeling, hosting, and even editing for Vogue. Her tomboy taste has earned her a reputation as one of the most coveted and imitated styles to come out of England since Kate Moss.

It wasn’t hard for us to choose a Chung-like look to duplicate. It ended up being one of Alexa’s signature street-style looks that we decided to re-work using Rapunzel’s gear.

The star print top Alexa is sporting looks really similar to the Equipment Signature Blouse we currently carry. This silky top can be worn  dressy or casual.  We love how Alexa paired it with an edgy, cut-off short. We took the casual route and paired the top with the Hudson Amber Raw-Edge Short in the Indie wash. The lighter wash is perfect for summer and it off-sets the darkness of the top. Lastly, we used a Bourbon and Boweties Necklace in the black Agate stone to add a little something extra.

Beat the heat with a pair of nude TKEES or play up the edge with your favorite pair of Converse. You’ll be worth enough to saunter the London streets with Ms. Chung, herself.

Rachel’s Style Icon: Michelle Williams

When I asked the girls to pick their favorite style icon, my mind immediately began toiling over who I would choose. I like Kristen Stewart’s chaotic style, but also can appreciate Dianna Agron’s consistency of flirty, flowy dresses. However, when I finally realized that it was Michelle Williams who made the most appearances on my Pinterest Inspiration board, I knew I had my answer.

It wasn’t until the recent years that Michelle Williams began molding her signature style. A lot has changed since her arrival to the Hollywood scene in the late nineties. Gone are the denim overalls and plaid shirts, and the shadow of Katie Holmes on Dawson’s Creek, Michelle Williams is a bona fide style icon.

I chose the Ella Moss Lucie Clip Dot Dress as the staple piece in my Michelle Williams creation. The halter style is perfectly retro and the fact that it can be dressed up or down is a plus. To complement the simplicity of the dress, I added a Bourbon and Boweties Agate Tassel Necklace. Whether you choose a dressy sandal or strappy heel, this look is complete and is worthy of any fashionable event.

So whether you preferred Dawson Leery or Pacey Witter, we can all agree that it is Jen Lindley that is at the forefront of today’s modern fashion trends—showing us that even the cheesiest of teen icons can make a stylish comeback!

Line We Love ~ Brokedown Clothing

We came across the Brokedown Clothing line last year on our boondoggle work trip to the Las Vegas Project Show in August 2011. What we love about Brokedown Clothing is that they manage to get the broken in tee just right! The graphics are timely and are cool enough that they don’t have to be licensed and official.
