Passing the crown: An Intro to Rapunzel’s Newest Princesses

14 Nov

When we learned of two of our Rapunzel’s princesses were going to be leaving the kingdom of Rapunzel Closet, we couldn’t help but be a little disappointed. But once our tears dried, we realized the silver lining. That meant that we were going to have a new princess joining our Rapunzel Family!

With that, we would like to introduce the newest member of our team. This beautiful brunette is named Christina and she has joined us just in time  for the holidays and to bring a new personal style and fresh fashionable viewpoint to our Palm Beachers.

“I love clothes with sophisticated tailored lines with a dash of edgy jewelery,” says Christina.

Christina’s Fave Brands: J Brand Jeans and Bourbon and Boweties.

Now that you’ve met Christina, we think it’s time that Christina met you! So come stop by Rapunzel’s and meet her! She might just might be your fashion soul sister!

Bye for now!

Stache and Shop!

13 Nov

Stache and Shop
Have you noticed a stark increase in local guys checking out their facial hair in every mirror they pass? Yes, us too!

That must mean one thing-it must be “Movember”! Every man’s favorite month of the year! Where they are allowed, and expected, to grow a mustache to show support for men’s health.

blog

But the fun wasn’t just for the boys anymore, Rapunzel’s Closet decided to get in on the fun by hosting our very own Stache and Shop event! And lucky for us, our lovely lady customers somehow managed to still look gorge even with some full-on, facial fur! Only in Palm Beach!

Some of our favorite customers stopped by and received 20% off of their purchases, just for being good sports!

blog

“My boyfriend is having way too much fun “manscaping” his stache–I can’t wait to show him a picture of me with this on so he can see what I go through,” said one of our favorite shoppers while sporting a bright purple handlebar mustache. “And by then he wont have the heart to be mad at me for bringing home a pair of these Hudson jeans!”

Mama Knows Best-Our Store Mama! Esther!

blog

This week’s “Mama Knows Best” is a particularly special one. For those of who you frequent our kid’s store, you will most definitely know (and love) our very own Esther Evans! Recognize that last name? She’s Rapunzel’s mother! And as you can see from her retro chic pictures, style certainly runs in this family!

A California girl at heart, Esther knows the importance of a great outfit. We couldn’t help but be envious of her Groucho Marx sweater layered with a collared shirt—so easy to picture this same exact look in one of our favorite fashion blogs. I guess great style really is timeless!

While we don’t have any Marx Brothers memorabilia in our store at the moment, we decided to recreate this preppy look with some of our newest additions to our sales floor! On top, we have the Margaret O’Leary Petit Collared Crew sweater—the best part? It’s a two-fer! No layering necessary!

We thought the Splendid Circle Skirt would be perfect on the bottom. Notice our signature Tkee Flip Flops missing? Have no fear; these shoes are still by our favorite brand! The Tkees Senny’s are our new favorite shoe for the fall and winter months! We think they complement this look by adding to the prepster style!

blog

What do you think? Did we capture the “Essence of Esther”?

Margaret O’Leary Collar Crew Sweater: $150.00
Splendid Circle Skirt: $88.00
Tkees Sennys: $115.00
Rapunzel’s Jewelry Box Spike Cuff Bangle: $38.00

Here is a little recap of the past couple months of buying trips! We’re concluding our seasonal buying with a trip to Coterie in NYC next week – we’re sure there will be a lot more laughs and fashiony (is that a word?) pix to come!

Mama Knows Best: Hallie’s Mom
blog

Style seems to run in the families of all of our girls at Rapunzel’s Closet, and our buyer, Hallie, is no exception. Hallie’s mother, Beth-Anne, has obviously taught Hallie the importance of personal style; lucky for us, Hallie has landed herself a job where she can share this natural knack for style with all of us here at Rapunzel’s Closet.

“My mother has always stayed close to the trends of the season but likes to purchase classic pieces that are wardrobe mainstays and mix trends in as they come and go. I can definitely say that I take a similar approach to my personal style.”

This awesome picture of Beth-Anne has greatly inspired us—we find it hard not to imagine what her day in San Francisco was like when she had this picture taken! Exciting times and even more exciting styles!

To re-create this look we decided to play up the wide-leg flare with some Hudsons! The Mia Five-Pocket Flare is essential in this look. To duplicate her layered look, we paired the Vince V-Neck in Eggplant with a white Equipment Signature Blouse. Accessories include a pair of Rapunzel’s Jewelry Box Hoop Earrings and a retro, crochet Missoni Scarf! We are loving this look!
Thanks for inspiring us, Hallie’s Mom! Peace and Love!

Steal This Look ~ Amanda Seyfried

Steal This Look: Amanda Seyfried
blog

Maybe it’s the intense heat that has befallen Palm Beach, but we find ourselves looking forward to Fall fashions. Now don’t get us wrong, we are loving corals and neon’s just as much as the next Island girl, but for some reason, we are finding ourselves drawn to darker shades and boyish trends.

For this week’s Steal This Look blog we are looking to the beautiful, Amanda Seyfried, for our inspiration. Amanda’s casual style tends to drift more towards basics, jeans, and sneakers—which are trends that Rapunzel’s Closet is known for!
blog
To re-create this look, we paired our new Joie Pinot Plaid Blouse with our new brand, Anine Bing Jean Shorts. Though Amanda wears pants in the inspiration shot, we realized that it may be more realistic for a Florida girl to wear a jean cut-off—at least until you can no longer fry an egg on the sidewalk!

Like Amanda, we added a pop of red with a Love Quote Scarf in True Love. With hints of red in the plaid of the shirt, this addition brightens up the look and takes it a step above casual!

Whose look would you steal for a day? Let Rapunzel’s Closet help you pick it out and put it together!

Joie Pinot Plaid Blouse: $168.00
Anine Bing Jean Short: $129.00
Love Quotes Scarf in True Love: $88.00

Steal This Look: The Aniston Effect
blog

This marks the second time that Jennifer Aniston has made it to our “Steal This Look” feature. The first blog focused on Jen’s casual, comfortable style—but this week, we’re looking at what the forty-something star wears that keeps her on almost every guy’s list of celebrity crushes—leather!

Sure, Florida’s Summer isn’t the most ideal time of year to wear leather, but we have taken Jen’s look from the People’s Choice Awards and made it an ideal choice for a night out in South Florida!
blogWe paired the Patterson J. Kincaid Polly Flirty Skirty with a sheer Vince Tank to mock Jen’s Dior dress. Because the top is see-through, we thought our Top Secret Lacey’s Secret bralette would be a perfect way to not only prevent any wardrobe malfunctions, but also accessorize and add some edge!

To top off the look, we added a Leighelena genuine anaconda wide cuff bracelet and a Lauren Merkin Eve leather clutch.

So take a fashion risk and add a little leather to your closet…trust Jennifer, she’s obviously doing something right!

Patterson J. Kincaid: Polly Flirty Skirty: $348.00
Vince Muscle Tee: $195.00
Top Secret Lacey’s Secret Bralette: $50.00
Leighelena Wide Cuff Bracelet: ON SALE for $72.00
Lauren Merkin Eve Leather Clutch: $200.00

Mama Knows Best: Stephanie’s Mother

blog

They always say, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” In the case of Stephanie’s bohemian, flower-child style, it seems that this theory is quite true.

When Stephanie forwarded me a picture of her mother, Alexandra, on her wedding day to her dad back in the late seventies, her crochet sleeves and gauzy wedding dress looks like something a modern bride could be seen wearing while walking down the aisle. A soon-to-be-bride herself, Stephanie had nothing but praise for her mom’s signature style.

“With my own wedding coming up, I’m finding a lot of inspiration in my parent’s wedding albums. It’s funny how as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to relate to my mother in so many new ways—especially when it comes to our similar taste and style.”
blog

To duplicate Stephanie’s mom’s wedding day look, we took a new arrival from one of our favorite brands, Free People. The Slip Away Pullover dress in ivory is perfect with its crochet detailing on the bottom. This gauzy dress is fairly sheer, so we layered it over the Velvet Andi Lace Tank Dress. To pull the outfit together, we added the Gorjana Barrington Belt in Gold and added another touch of gold with the Palm Beach Lately Arrow Necklace.

What does your mom’s wedding album look like? Maybe Rapunzel’s Closet can help you re-create the iconic look just like Stephanie!

Free People Slip Away Pullover: $148.00
Velvet Andi Lace Tank Dress: $150.00
Gorjana Barrington Belt: $58.00
Palm Beach Lately Arrow Necklace: $78.00
