Steal This Look: Everybody Loves A New Girl

Zooey Deschanel has slowly started to take over the world. Her quirky, down-to-earth-girl roles have gotten attention from boys and girls alike. Boys like her ability to hang with the guys and girls like her unique style which mirrors the classy pin-ups of days past. So for this week’s “Steal This Look,” we took one of Zooey’s signature, girly looks and re-created it using one of our most trendy brands.

While Zooey can opt for a more tomboy style at times, she has also become known for her flirty dresses that look like something out of a sixties, Annette Funicello film. When a MinkPink shipment arrived with the Seminyak Shirt Dress, we couldn’t help but immediately picture Zooey rocking it with a pair of Converse or ballet flats. At a cool $79.00, you can save a few bucks and pick up a CD from her band She & Him! (We’re all about acting the part!) blog The navy and white polka dot is a classic ode to the vintage styles that Zooey has made it clear that she is a fan of. Whether you choose to wear the Seminyak dress with sneakers or your favorite TKEES, it promises to demand attention…just try to fight the urge to twirl too much!

Steal This Look: AnnaLynne McCord

Clothes and music taste area vital part of self-expression. What happens when you mix the two? A clothing item that screams who you are without making a sound.

Our “Steal This Look” offering for this week has us re-creating a look we saw on young Hollywood starlet, AnnaLynne McCord. A pair of light wash cut-offs and AnnaLynne’s outfit is done—let’s see how simple it is for Rapunzel’s to match it!
blogSticking with the theme of rockin’ females, we chose our Blondie Raglan by Chaser LA. This long-sleeve top looks great with Joe’s Jeans Easy Cut-offs. Although AnnaLynne keeps her look pretty simple, we wanted a little bit more color and added a Fig and Bella Fringe Scarf in the grey-pink combo. Add your choice of TKEES, Converse, or boots and you’re ready for the 90210! Or better yet, the 33480!

Steal This Look ~ Gingham Style

Steal This Look: Gingham Style

blogGingham fabric is reminiscent of the retro, preppy styles of the sixties and seventies. The short shorts, tied-up tops, and penny loafers were as American as baseball and apple pie, and they are making a come-back right here in Palm Beach’s Rapunzel’s Closet.

We draw our inspiration from this vintage shot of three lovely ladies on what appears to be a girly day trip. The “sportiness” of the outfit we created is ideal for any outdoor activities that you’ve got planned. The light fabrics promise to beat the heat and humidity of the summer months.

When wearing a printed bottom, particularly shorties like these Benson Seersucker Shorts, you want to keep the top relatively basic. We chose the Crop Mesh Top by Michael Stars to offset the print on bottom, and added a little color with a Love Quotes Scarf, a decorative accessory during the day, and useful shoulder wrap for later on.

Finish off the outfit with your favorite pair of Tkees and you’re ready for a beach-side picnic. Just don’t forget the sunscreen!

Benson Seersucker Short in Light Blue: $98.00
Michael Stars Crop Mesh Top: $64.00
Love Quotes Scarf  in Aquavit: $88.00

Steal This Look: Festival Threads

Music festivals are a classic part of American culture. You pack up your tent, toothbrush, and music fanatic friends for a weekend-long camping trip—all for the sake of music. Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California is just as famous for its fashion trends as it is for its musical line-up. While Palm Beach is a few thousand miles away from the festival of flower children, there’s no reason why we can’t sport some trendy Coachella looks for everyday wear. Afterall, SunFest is right around the corner. blog

Mixing patterns, fabrics, and styles is completely acceptable, if not necessary, when dressing for a music festival. Add a flower headband and you’re front-row ready. We mixed some of our favorite items to create a look that is just as much at home in South Florida as it is in the lawn seats of Coachella.

On top we chose the Joie Natesa Eyelet Short Sleeve Top. The eyelet print is soft and feminine and the loose fit is ideal for sunny Spring days. On the bottom we went for a darker pair of J Brand Cord Shorts in the color Vintage Basin. These sexy cut-offs offset the shirt’s volume and are an ode the classic corduroy styles of the sixties and seventies.

To finish off the look, we added a Daydreams, Not Dreams Flower Headband and two layered necklaces. The Coachella rule is: “When you think you’re wearing enough, add another accessory.”

Come into Rapunzel’s and create your own festival look. And make sure to get a good seat to the show!

Joie Natesa Eyelet Top: $218.00
J Brand Cord Cut-Off in Vintage Basin: $154.00
Daydreams, Not Dreams Flower Headband: $77.00
Rapunzel’s Jewelry Box Wrapped Lapis Geode Necklace: $58.00
Palm Beach Lately Arrow Necklace: $78.00

Steal This Look: No Gray Area
blogParker Layne Dress ~ $264.00
Palm Beach Lately Arrow Necklace ~ $78.00

Some things just go together. Florida and sunshine. Movies and popcorn. Rapunzel’s Closet and the hottest trends. A classic pairing that never ages is pairing crisp white with a daring black. One of our newest Parker maxi dresses is nailing this timeless style.

As seen on our celebrity inspirations below, the Parker Layne dress’ bold geometric print is offset by the simplistic color palette of ivory and black. The plunging v-neck of the front is mimicked in the back and the dress also features high-cut slits on either side—a fun twist to the lengthy style. blog

Add a bold earring or bracelet and your outfit is complete and fashionable as ever—and there’s no grey area on that subject.

Steal This Look: Rihanna’s Spring Flowers
Spring has hit Palm Beach. The Island is bustling with Spring Breakers, the temperature is rising, and our wardrobes are quickly getting brighter. For this week’s Steal This Look, we decided to follow suit with the colorful trends and add sone flowers into the mix. Fellow “Island Girl,” Rihanna is not afraid to take a fashion risk, but here she has sweetened her style with this cute floral frock. We chose to “Steal Her Look” this week because of her Island roots and her love of sporting lots of color in her looks.

Like Rihanna, whether you consider yourself a girly-girl or a tomboy, floral prints are accessible for all styles. We decided to feature one of our new favorite dresses, the Parker Lily Dress. This fitted, silk dress is a must-have for Spring and can easily be worn well into the Summer months.
Throw on a blazer or denim jacket for a daytime look, and lose the outerwear to take it into nighttime. Regardless of how you wear this Parker creation, you’re guaranteed to look the part of a flirty Island girl, no matter where you’re from.

Parker Lily Dress: $242.00
Rapunzel’s Jewelry Box Red and Gold Fringe Pendant: $48.00

Steal This Look: Straight Off the Runway…Project Runway

When it comes to style, we can put our complete trust in supermodels. Think about it. They spend their workdays being styled by the designers themselves and their evenings being constantly photographed by paparazzi. These women live and breathe fashion.

We didn’t have to think twice when wondering if Heidi Klum’s look was worthy of its own Steal This Look blog. And as always, we’ve taken a trendy look and put our own Palm Beach twist on her supermodel style.

To re-create Heidi’s rocker-chic look, we first decided to steer towards colors more suitable for South Florida. As Spring approaches, black on black with a touch of leather runs the risk of looking harsh. blog

Instead, we paired the Gypsy Sarah Maxi Tank Dress with the bone-colored Patterson J. Kincaid Ricky Leather Vest. The tie-dyed print of the dress is off-set by the neutral of the vest—a bright and colorful look for a “beachy” South Florida girl. The low neckline of the dress looks great with any kind of funky necklace. We chose a necklace from the Rapunzel’s Jewelry Box Collection that features a silver fringe. blog

The look is complete and ready for the runways— or the equally stylish sidewalks of Palm Beach.

Alvederzane! And we’ll see you at the store!

xoxo, Rapunzel

Gypsy05 Sarah Maxi Tank Dress: $275.00
Patterson J. Kincaid Ricky Leather Vest: $298.00
Rapunzel’s Jewelry Box Fringe Necklace: $68.00

Steal This Look: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at Tiffany’s

Breakfast at Tiffany’s solidified Audrey Hepburn as a style icon. Prior to appearing with her croissant in hand in the opening scene, Audrey was known for her retro-classic style. Her role in Breakfast at Tiffany’s made her famous for a new look ~ the Little Black Dress.

The “LBD” as it has become known is a key item in every girl’s closet. And the Clothing Gods (also known as our buyer Hallie) have answered our calls and Rapunzel’s Closet is now stocked with perfect LBDs for any and all occasions.

We picked two of our newest and trendiest dresses to showcase, and we’re thinking they are going to be finding new homes in your closets very soon.

First up: The Parker Sarah Dress. We absolutely love the lines of this dress. The eye-catching neckline makes this dress an instant show-stopper. With the cinched waste and flirty length, all you’re going to need is a pair of stilettos and you’re guaranteed to win Best Dressed.

Parker Sarah Dress:$264.00

Be prepared, because this next dress isn’t for the faint of heart.  This Keepsake piece is called the Love Lust Dress, and we’re thinking the designers had both love and lust in mind when making this dress. The cut-outs in the front and back are subtly sexy and the high neckline prevents it from looking too flashy. Just add a cropped leather jacket or oversized blazer (like last week’s Steal This Look!) and you’re set!

Keepsake Love Lust Dress: $125.00

We suggest heading down to Rapunzel’s Closet and doing your best Holly Golightly in one of our stylish LBDs! You know you’re in the market for one!

Steal This Look ~ Mrs. Ryan Reynolds

13 Feb

Every one of us knows a girl who seems to have it all: career, looks, style…former “Sexiest Man Alive” husband. Blake Lively is THAT girl for us! For this week’s Steal This Look feature we borrowed one of the Gossip Girl’s street style looks and did our own Closet Gossip spin on it.

The outfit that got our wheels turning was when Blake wore a form-fitting dress that hits well above the knee, with an oversized boyfriend blazer in a soft neutral color. With the dress being as fitted as it is, Blake was able to successfully tone down the look by pairing it with this blazer. Topping it off with a chunky necklace and neutral shoe makes this ensemble perfect for daytime. Remove the blazer and you’re ready to for a night out.

Challenge accepted. blog

Our version of Blake’s outfit consists of one of our favorite brands-Finders Keepers. Their pieces are bright, edgy, affordable and a little sexy—which was exactly what we needed for this look. As opposed to Blake’s basic navy dress, we opted for the fun print of the Finders Keepers, “Know You Now” dress. The pop of geographic pink against the nude sheath makes this dress versatile—a plus for any woman.

Next we added the Vince Blazer in Coastal Blue. Unlike Blake’s oversized boyfriend blazer, this Vince piece is cropped and makes it more wearable for any shape or size. The classic navy tones down the brightness of the dress.

We then added a few of our CC Design beaded necklaces to create the look of Blake’s chunky necklace. All you need to complete this look are some neutral heels or flats, and you’re set for a date with your sexiest man alive.

See you at Rapunzel’s!

XOXO, Closet Gossip Girl

Steal This Look ~ Penny Lane

6 Feb

Penny Lane is in our ears and in our eyes…

The 70’s seem like a downright trippy time. During this decade the Vietnam War came to an end, the pet rock was invented, and Farrah Fawcett was posted on nearly every teenage boy’s bedroom wall.  The rise of the “flower child” also took place during these years. It is within these eccentric times that we find our inspiration for our next “Steal this Look” blog.  We are digging the character made famous by Kate Hudson’s Penny Lane from Almost Famous.

As she follows her favorite rock band throughout their tour, Penny Lane is constantly rocking the quintessential hippie trends. At Rapunzel’s Closet we have everything you need to play up your inner groupie goddess, minus her famous suede shearling jacket!

We pulled some of our favorite items from the store to show how easy it is to create an ensemble that is just as at home in modern day South Florida as it would be riding the Stillwater tour bus in 1973!
Jen’s Pirate Booty is our first pick. The Padang backless top in ivory looks great with light wash denim. The AG Pixie Cutoffs pictured here are a staple in every South Florida girl’s wardrobe. For a touch of color we added the Love Quotes linen scarf in Espresso. To complete this look, we suggest a pair of nude boots. Flip flops may not be the best choice when you never know what kind of venues your favorite rock band will be playing at!

Our favorite part about our second outfit is the Free People Lima hooded cardigan. The Southwest-inspired print looks great over a body-con dress or even with a pair of distressed denim jeans. For a dressier look, we put the cardigan over a cotton Minnie Rose Tank Dress in black. Because we love our accessories, we added the Gorjana Barrington belt around the waist. To top off the look we added one of our CC Design Stone Necklaces. The earthy look of these accessories is ideal for any flower child look.

Also pictured is a Dogeared tote with the phrase “Eat Bread,” perfect for the everyday vegetarian, and even the every-other-day vegetarian. The comfy pillow next to it is the Fresco Towels 24×24 pillow. These terry cloth cloth pillows are perfect for indoor or outdoor use and are a necessity after a long day of fun in the sun.

So check your local concert venues and come into Rapunzel’s to get your outfits ready. And remember in the words of Penny Lane, “You’re not a groupie, you’re a Band Aid.”
