#OOTD: Maxi Dress | Styled 2 Ways

This week Steph and Christina are styling the Pink Stitch Resort Maxi Dress two different ways. Take it away Girls!

Steph:
Coastal Chic

I am in love with this Pink Stitch Resort Maxi Dress in Azure Blue. It’s the perfect flowy maxi for a hot summer day at Rapunzel’s.

During the day at work my “must haves” are  an arm full of Bourbon & Boweties Bracelets (coins & a sea of blue are my favorites) & TKEES on my feet. These days I can’t get enough of TKEES in Coco Butter and Sea Snake. I completed my mermaid look today with a pair of Sea Snake.

After work I can throw on a chunky beaded belt for a sunset cruise on the boat! (Margaritas are a non-negotiable!) I added an Annie Fischer Pineapple Pouch for my cell phone, lip gloss, sunnies & keys and I’m ready to go!

A Preppy State of Dress

There is this little old saying that goes; you must always have the perfect little black dress. Well, on Palm Beach the perfect little black dress actually translates into the perfect little summer dress. When I set my eyes on the new Pink Stitch Resort Maxi Dress I just knew I had to have it. I went for an effortless chic look without all the fuss that goes into making an outfit.

Sometimes, it really is better to go with the saying, less is more. I made sure to keep the jewelry to a minimum only accenting it with Bourbon & Boweties Bracelets and a Zacasha tassel necklace. I knew I would be spending the day running errands around Palm Beach, so I made sure to keep the shoes simple. You can often catch me rocking my TKEES or some other fashionable flat around town. So leave all the fuss at home, grab your favorite clutch and aviator sunglasses and you’re good to go!

Maybe it’s the intense heat that has befallen Palm Beach, but we find ourselves looking forward to Fall fashions. Now don’t get us wrong, we are loving corals and neon’s just as much as the next Island girl, but for some reason, we are finding ourselves drawn to darker shades and boyish trends.

For this week’s Steal This Look blog we are looking to the beautiful, Amanda Seyfried, for our inspiration. Amanda’s casual style tends to drift more towards basics, jeans, and sneakers—which are trends that Rapunzel’s Closet is known for!

To re-create this look, we paired our new Joie Pinot Plaid Blouse with our new brand, Anine Bing Jean Shorts. Though Amanda wears pants in the inspiration shot, we realized that it may be more realistic for a Florida girl to wear a jean cut-off—at least until you can no longer fry an egg on the sidewalk!

Like Amanda, we added a pop of red with a Love Quote Scarf in True Love. With hints of red in the plaid of the shirt, this addition brightens up the look and takes it a step above casual!

Steal This Look: The Aniston Effect

This marks the second time that Jennifer Aniston has made it to our “Steal This Look” feature. The first blog focused on Jen’s casual, comfortable style—but this week, we’re looking at what the forty-something star wears that keeps her on almost every guy’s list of celebrity crushes—leather!

Sure, Florida’s Summer isn’t the most ideal time of year to wear leather, but we have taken Jen’s look from the People’s Choice Awards and made it an ideal choice for a night out in South Florida!
We paired the Patterson J. Kincaid Polly Flirty Skirty with a sheer Vince Tank to mock Jen’s Dior dress. Because the top is see-through, we thought our Top Secret Lacey’s Secret bralette would be a perfect way to not only prevent any wardrobe malfunctions, but also accessorize and add some edge!

To top off the look, we added a Leighelena genuine anaconda wide cuff bracelet and a Lauren Merkin Eve leather clutch.

So take a fashion risk and add a little leather to your closet…trust Jennifer, she’s obviously doing something right!

We have to be honest. We kind of miss Kim Kardashian. The new mom has been in hiding since the June 15^th birth of her and Kanye West’s daughter, North West. Sure, they named their child after an airline, but we still can’t deny that even though Kim had a few misses in the early stages of her pregnancy, she definitely has set some trends for both expectant mothers and Kardashian fans around the world.

This week, we took a look from the Kardashian archive. Kim has never been shy about showing off her killer curves, and regardless of how you feel about the family empire, you cannot deny that they have mastered their signature style and never disappoint with their outfit creations.

To mimic Kim’s daytime look, we chose one of the newest additions to Rapunzel’s Closet. With our latest shipment of Keepsake came the What You Got Peplum top. This white, figure hugging piece is perfect for many body types and can be worn during any season. For the bottoms, we chose the new Current/Elliott Ankle Skinny with Studs. These pants are a favorite among all of the Rapunzel girls and we are looking forward to continuing to style them in various ways when Fall comes around!

Alexa Chung has inspired this week’s Steal This Look entry. This stylish Brit has tried her hand at modeling, hosting, and even editing for Vogue. Her tomboy taste has earned her a reputation as one of the most coveted and imitated styles to come out of England since Kate Moss.

It wasn’t hard for us to choose a Chung-like look to duplicate. It ended up being one of Alexa’s signature street-style looks that we decided to re-work using Rapunzel’s gear.

The star print top Alexa is sporting looks really similar to the Equipment Signature Blouse we currently carry. This silky top can be worn  dressy or casual.  We love how Alexa paired it with an edgy, cut-off short. We took the casual route and paired the top with the Hudson Amber Raw-Edge Short in the Indie wash. The lighter wash is perfect for summer and it off-sets the darkness of the top. Lastly, we used a Bourbon and Boweties Necklace in the black Agate stone to add a little something extra.

Beat the heat with a pair of nude TKEES or play up the edge with your favorite pair of Converse. You’ll be worth enough to saunter the London streets with Ms. Chung, herself.

 One of the most iconic women of all time, Marilyn Monroe, will be the inspiration for this week’s Steal This Look blog. Although Ms. Monroe passed away over fifty years ago, her timeless style and beauty has kept her at the forefront of modern popular culture.

With countless images to choose from, we chose one of the last images of Marilyn ever taken. During a photo shoot by photographer, George Barris, Marilyn surprised us by covering up a bit by wearing an oversized sweater as she frolicked along Santa Monica Beach.
In order to recreate this iconic look, we chose the Goddis Liv Wrap Sweater in the soft neutral tones.. Whitney Port started her career as Lauren Conrad’s co-worker in MTV’s, “The Hills.” However, it was Whitney’s chic threads and laid-back attitude that got her noticed against the backdrop of the loud, Hollywood drama. Once MTV gave Whitney her own show, “The City,” the spotlight was now solely on her and she had the stage she needed to make her fashion statements. With that, Ms. Port will be our inspiration for this week’s Steal This Look!

As a frequent attendee of rock festivals, Whitney has got her casual style down to a T. We chose this pic of Whitney in a top that looks shockingly similar to our Generation Love Vinnie Animal Print Tee. While Whitney pairs the black and white printed top with a pair of Aztec printed shorts, we chose a more basic bottom by adding the Rae Francis Jace Short. The scalloped hem adds a feminine touch to the navy and royal blue shorts and is a nice contrast to the printed top.

Victoria Secret model, Alessandra Ambrosio is a sight to behold. Even beyond the Victoria Secret runway, the Brazilian supermodel is constantly stunning with her beach-chic style and naturally beautiful look. If the model and mother were to ever make it over to the island, we can easily imagine her picking up a few necessities at Rapunzel’s Closet.

Though she’s got legs for days, Alessandra seems to be a big fan of the maxi dress. We found this picture of her out and about sporting a dark-dyed maxi in NYC. We loved the look, but thought a lighter shade may be a bit more appropriate for a South Florida summer.

Love them or hate them, the Kardashian clan seems to be here to stay. Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe have shaped a fashion niche of their own which consists of both curve-hugging pieces and comfy day wear.

If you like to keep up with the Kardashians (don’t lie…you know you do) you have probably seen all three girls and “momager” Kris Jenner, hanging around wearing the brand Peace Love World. Whether it’s a matching tracksuit or one of their graphic tees, the family has made it very clear to the public that Peace Love World is Kardashian-approved.

One thing the Rapunzel’s girls have in common with the Kardashians is their love for the brand, which prides itself not only on comfy-cool pieces, but also on a positive message. Palm Beach has quite a colorful history. Some of the most interesting tales are from the days when the Kennedy family would vacation on the Island and make appearances all throughout town. Some would argue that the most inspiring of the Kennedy clan was the former First Lady herself, Jackie Kennedy Onassis. We thought it was about time that we did our own little tribute to the timeless fashion icon in this week’s “Steal This Look.”

Though many of us were not around during the days of Jackie frequenting the area, her fashions have been forever documented in countless images of the icon. She was known worldwide for her classic pieces which mixed perfect tailoring, chic lines, and basic color schemes.

Our new Joie Norton Pique dress looked like something out of Jackie’s stylebook. Since the dress itself speaks enough through its feminine cut and bright, summertime color, accessories are best kept minimal. We thought the Palm Beach Lately Arrow Necklace was incredibly appropriate, considering that they are hand-made on the Island. We can easily picture a modern-day Jackie sporting this look. Now just add a pair of her signature retro oval frame glasses and you’ll get locals thinking they’re seeing a ghost!
